Apple Hit with “iBrick” Lawsuit

4 Nov

(My Article) From PC World:

Apple is being sued by a San Diego woman who says that the iOS 4 update turned her iPhone 3G into an “iBrick.”  This is not the first complaint by iPhone 3G/3GS users that the iOS 4 update was more of a “downgrade” than an “upgrade.”

Bianca Wofford states that Apple intentionally encouraged iPhone 3G/3GS users to update to the iOS 4, knowing the update would potentially bring issues, in order to force them to update to the new iPhone 4.  She alleges that Apple has been remiss in correcting these issues for over 3 months, again for the same purpose–to force iPhone 3G/3GS users to purchase a new phone.

The lawsuit seeks class-action status, where the class will be defined as any iPhone 3G/3GS users in the state of California who updated to iOS 4 between June 1 and September 30, 2010.
